The newest Firefox extensions discussed every week.
Here are the usual suspects of Firefox extensions that I've found for this weeks' discussions.
Digg Notifier 1.0
For you diggers and digg-ees, this extension will notify you when a new story appears on the front page of digg.com.
There isn't much of a description of how this extension functions and the web site is kind of sparse.
The extension, when installed, reads the digg.com front page stories and displays them in a little popup windows above the system tray. If you are interested in the story, click on it and you'll be taken to it immediately.
Microsoft Fingerprint Reader Firefox Extension
If you've purchased the Microsoft Fingerprint Reader, you've no doubt found out that the Reader doesn't work quite as well in the Firefox browser as it does in Internet Explorer. If you've been trying to troubleshoot this particular problem for a while, well, I have some news for you...here is an extension that will solve your Reader problems once and for all.
Now, I, unfortunately, do not have a Fingerprint Reader, let alone a Microsoft Fingerprint Reader, but I posted this for users who are having problems using the Firefox browser and Microsoft Fingerprint Reader together.
If you have the Reader and you use it with Firefox, drop me a line and let me know how it works.
VideoDownloader
Now, this extension I can sink my teeth into. The VideoDownloader extension adds a small icon at the bottom of the status bar and a toolbar button at the top.
When you go to YouTube, or any other video web site, you can immediately save that video to your local hard drive. This extension will work with currently 60 video web sites, which are listed on their web site.
There is even a Best Videos feature available so you can view the videos directly from your browser. According to the web site, a new video appears every hour.
With YouTube being so popular, this extension is definitely part of my toolkit.
Thats it for this week...see ya next week!
